Horror Under Tristram REQUIRED LEVEL: 105 DIFFICULTY: VERY EASY LOCKDOWN: 20 seconds Location Butcher's Lair (Act 1: Tristram) Lore A bloated and grotesque creature, the Butcher was a sadistic being that relished in the torture and pain of others. It hunted endlessly for fresh meat. Although retellings of the Darkening of Tristram describe how the Butcher was defeated deep within the Labyrinth, the horrific culling of the city in recent times, following the Dark Wanderer's wake, seems to have stirred this malevolent spirit back to evil once more. Strategy The Butcher is a strong melee fighter.
His tainted cleaver hits hard and just like in the Tristram Cathedral, he will hunt you down. Upon striking you or a minion, he has a chance to incite a Bloodlust which fuels Sacrificial Shrines into emitting heavily damaging shockwaves. And to boot, he also is considerably tanky. Reward Defeat the Butcher on Hell difficulty to get The Butcher's Tooth. Infernal Machine REQUIRED LEVEL: 105 DIFFICULTY: VERY EASY Location Infernal Cave (Act 1: The Pit) Lore Who knew the fallen clans were technologically adept? This rickety contraption contains wooden clockwork mechanisms and the necessary runes to open a gateway to any location in the Burning Hells and protect itself against any attackers. This enables it to summon hellish creatures at a rapid rate and strike enemies down with powerful rune magic upon being attacked.
Move quickly, because time is against you. Strategy The tower summons a selection of dangerous elite monsters. Try to reach it as quickly as possible, avoiding or teleporting past elites. Beware the elites with a slowing attack: Marbled Frog and Basilisk Reward Defeat the Infernal Machine on Hell difficulty to get the Optical Detector. Death Projector REQUIRED LEVEL: 105 DIFFICULTY: VERY EASY LOCKDOWN: 30 seconds Location The Proving Grounds (Swampy Pit - Flayer Jungle) Lore The Swampy Pit serves as testing grounds for Mephisto's latest siege weapon. The Death Projector slowly rotates, firing a devastating energy beam in a full circle, annihilating anything in its path. Strategy The siege tower is tended to by trained Zakarumite techpriests.
Its magitech shield is impenetrable to all weapons, but when it senses a Mechanic nearby, it lowers its shield to enable maintenance. In this state, the Death Projector can be damaged, though its fortified outer shell still harmlessly deflects a percentage of all incoming attacks.
The Mechanics themselves carry portable gap generators and are impossible to hit or kill. Damage the Death Projector while avoiding Mechanics until the devilish device finally falls. Reward Defeat the Death Projector on Hell difficulty to get the Laser Focus Crystal. Assault on Mount Arreat REQUIRED LEVEL: 110 DIFFICULTY: EASY LOCKDOWN: 2 minutes Location Arreat Summit (Act 5: Arreat Summit) Kill Narthal to open a portal to the old Arreat Summit. Lore In ages past, Diablo himself attempted to invade Mount Arreat to destroy the Worldstone and was repelled by the Bear tribe defenders and their king, the shaman Koth. This is a reenaction of that battle on the peak of Mount Arreat, with you as Diablo. Strategy The Bear Shamans wield the Hawk Talons ability, a trap which releases axes, the ability to cast a Guard Tower, as well as throwing axes at the player.
Thanks to their connection to the primal forces, all shamans have an innate 50% resistance to all. King Koth, on the other hand who wields dual swords, can also cast Hawk Talons, but instead of Guard Tower, he casts Fortress. In many aspects this is the physical version of the Tal Rasha fight.
Reward Defeat King Koth on Hell difficulty to get the Sacred Worldstone Key. The Binding of Baal REQUIRED LEVEL: 110 DIFFICULTY: EASY Location Act 2: Tal Rasha's Tomb Kill Zoltun Kulle to open a Portal to the old Canyon of the Magi. Lore Reenact the capture and imprisonment of Baal by Tal Rasha and his Horadrim, with you playing the role of Baal. To protect their leader, the Horadrim weave warding spells that make Tal Rasha immortal until the last of his soldiers has died and their spirits have faded. Strategy During this uberquest, you morph into Baal when you are near Tal Rasha. The archmage himself is immune to all damage until you get rid of all Horadric Mages.
Even then, Tal Rasha has a phasing spell that negates a percentage of incoming attacks and their elemental affinity grants all mages 50% resistance to all. Being magical in nature, the shield aura is vulnerable to resistance breaking spells, offering the hero another way to deal with Tal Rasha. Beware the Horadrim's fire and lightning spells, empowered with ancient metamagic to bypass up to 30% of your resistances, Tal Rasha able to bypass 40%. Reward Defeat Tal Rasha on Hell difficulty to get the Scroll of Kings. Akarat REQUIRED LEVEL: 110 DIFFICULTY: EASY Location Torajan Jungles Lore Akarat the Prophet is the name of the ascetic who founded the religion and customs of the Zakarum Church. It is said that he did so after the visit of Archangel Yaerius in his dreams. Moved by what he'd seen, Akarat set out on a grand journey to the cities of Kehjistan, intent on enlightening his fellow men about the divine Light he claimed existed within everyone.
However the prophet's legacy is clouded with uncertainties and it is said that one day he simply disappeared in the jungles of Kehjistan. While his teachings had left their mark, they would flounder in obscurity for a millennium. Strategy The corrupted spirit of Akarat is protected by heavenly invulnerability and is impossible to attack directly. Remember that a religion is nothing without followers, therefore strike down his surrounding apostles first.
The death of one of his apostles unleashes a wave of holy energy, reducing all resistances of other apostles to -100% and breaking the immunity shield of Akarat himself, reducing all resistances to 0% for a few precious seconds. This does however enrage them and they will attack you with renewed vigour. Killing an apostle may be difficult due to the mass healing spell they cast when low on health, as well as the storm of magical hammers with which they pummel you from a distance and their ability to heal when they slay a minion or hero. Akarat himself is blessed in another way as well: the spirits of the Light repel a percentage of all incoming attacks.
Reward Defeat Akarat on Hell difficulty to get the Visions of Akarat. Lord Aldric Jitan REQUIRED LEVEL: 110 DIFFICULTY: EASY Location Torajan Jungles Lore Driven mad by nightmares, the Western aristocrat Lord Aldric Jitan hopes to summon a terrible demon and plunge the land into darkness. Stop him before he succeeds.
Strategy The demonic powers guiding his actions imbue him and his guardsmen with 50% all resistances and the ability to harmlessly deflect a percentage of incoming attacks. The guardsmen are tougher than anything that came before and will heal themselves, inflict tri-elemental damage and summon guard towers that will pummel the living daylights out of you if you stand still for too long. Keep moving and the towers will vanish behind you. Reward Defeat Lord Aldric Jitan on Hell difficulty to get the Moon of the Spider. Horazon's Sanctum REQUIRED LEVEL: 110 DIFFICULTY: EASY LOCKDOWN: 20 seconds Location Dimensional Sanctum (Act 3: Caldeum) Kill the Vizier in the Lower Kurast entrance and open a Portal to Caldeum Lore Horazon the Summoner, in his arcane sanctuary, summoned a mighty demon lord imbued by a power so strong that it was quickly able to overwhelm the sorcerer.
Horazon, unable to defeat the demon without paying with his life, managed to trap the creature in the farthest reach of his sanctuary and split off the prison zone from the rest of the structure banishing it under the earth where it now sits in a containment dimension. Breaking in and defeating the demon may yield great rewards. Strategy Heed the familiar's holographic warning. The Creature of Flame, although not very strong on its own, has the ability to open Dimensional Rifts, summoning demons from the depths of hell. If unprepared, the player can become overwhelmed.
Not only can it open rifts, but can defend itself with a mortar attack and Lava Pit. Reward Defeat the Creature of Flame on Hell difficulty to get Horazon's Focus. Black Road REQUIRED LEVEL: 115 DIFFICULTY: MODERATE Location Church of Dien-Ap-Sten (Act 1: Bramwell - Rogue Encampment) Lore The now former acolyte of the Zakarum-priesthood Buyard Cholik, facing the limits of his own mortality, slowly started despising the so called 'Religion of the Light', regretting all the years he faithfully devoted to the Zakarum order which was now exposing all of its frailty while confronting the wicked intents and machinations of the Lord of Hatred himself. Buyard Cholik, fueled by an evergrowing thirst for knowledge related to the pursuit of eternal life, eventually, came to know about the powerful and mighty demon Kabraxis. Inebriated by the promise of immortality, the former Zakarum priest joined forced with Kabraxis the Thief of Hope, becoming an anchor for the banished demon between his prison realm and the mortal plane. Thus Buyard Cholik started preparing Sanctuary for the demon's coming establishing a new cult dedicated to the prophet Dien-Ap-Sten, Kabraxis in disguise, wearing the new title of 'Wayfinder' for his followers and creating the first church of the Way of Dreams in the ancient city of Bramwell, from where he plan to extend his foul influence on the whole region. Strategy Buyard is a primarily fire based caster whose Ultimate skill is the ability to summon a horde of possessed cultists to swarm you.
To damage Buyard, he must be in the fire circle in the middle of his room, but beware of one of his attacks that makes that circle treacherous to enter. Reward Killing Buyard Cholik gives you The Black Road charm which allows you to unlock your Black Road skill. The Black Road Keep in Inventory to Gain Bonus Required Level: 115 Unlocks your Black Road Skill +150 Life +150 Mana Maximum Skill Level Increased by 1 Your free bonus skill This skill can be found at the top right of your first skill tab. When you complete this uber, keep the charm in your inventory. This allows you to put skill points into the skill. Some who have trained in these particular arts can also employ this strategy on the battlefield. Effect: burns an unholy female sign on the ground in life stealing flames THUNDERGOD BAR A warrior who has his eyes on the throne of his tribe is sent to the summit of Mt. The shockwave does not harm flesh or bones, but the shellshocked enemies may well be so confused they forget how to fight. Effect: wave of force that knocks back enemies and lowers damage. Legacy of Blood REQUIRED LEVEL: 115 DIFFICULTY: MODERATE Location Chamber of Blood (Torajan Jungles) Lore Bartuc, the Warlord of Blood, was once Horazon's brother in the Vizjerei mage clan. Whereas Horazon wanted to summon demons to enslave them, Bartuc chose to worship them and traded his soul for demonic power.
Their conflict eventually led to a civil war that shattered the mage clan. Although Bartuc was eventually destroyed by the very powers he sought to control, his soul and power have been claimed by the forces of Hell.
It may be possible to find Bartuc's spirit in the crypt where his cursed armour was buried. Strategy Bartuc and his summoned Blood Golems have ranged attacks and can hurt a lot in this tiny room. Protected by the power of his cursed armour, Bartuc and his golems are invulnerable to damage. However, his Wychwind blade throw requires him to concentrate on the spell and drop his resistances for a brief time, and his dimwitted golems may briefly forget to shield themselves when they successfully hit you and are distracted by your suffering. Reward Defeat Bartuc on Hell difficulty to get the Legacy of Blood.
Bull Prince Rodeo REQUIRED LEVEL: 115 DIFFICULTY: MODERATE Location Corral of Corruption (The Secret Cow Level) Lore The moolicious heir to the Cow King's throne, Bull Prince Rodeo is out to exact his indiscriminate revenge for all the cattle killed by humans. Strategy Rodeo is very aggressive and has a stunning Hoof Stomp and the Blink spell, making it difficult to put some distance between you and him. He can also summon more cows or call upon a Stampeding Herd of exploding cows that ploughs across the screen, trampling all in their path. This ability is unblockable, unresistable and will destroy you if you don't get out of the way in time. But his most common spell, in cooperation with another victim of cruel farming practices, is a wave of chickens that will pursue their victim relentlessly, inflicting devastating hurt with their beaks if they connect. The chickens can be dodged by staying mobile. Reward Defeat Bull Prince Rodeo on Hell difficulty to get the Fool's Gold.
Rathma Square REQUIRED LEVEL: 115 DIFFICULTY: MODERATE Location Act 3: Caldeum Lore Back in the days when Kurast was the centre of civilisation and black magic was not yet frowned upon, this was where the priests of Rathma - the necromancers - practiced their art. The place was abandoned when the religion of Zakarum took over the city and banned pagan magic, making it the perfect hiding place for an ancient evil bent on taking out the Church from within. Primus, son of Mephisto, was the leader of the Cult of the Triune in ages past before its destruction. His efforts to rebuild the Triune were shut down by the crusaders of Zakarum, but he remains a formidable foe, doubly so in the home city of the Zakarum. Strategy Primus himself is not particularly hard, despite his powerful ranged Bladestorm attack.
The blades track your position, but do less damage than his normal attack and can be avoided, blocked and dodged. His guard dogs are the real challenge. After several millennia in and around Rathma Square, his Gore Crawlers can raise themselves from the dead. Shattering the corpse does not stop this, but the resurrection takes 10 seconds, during which you can attempt to run away and ditch them.
Reward On Hell difficulty, Primus drops the Spirit Trance Herb. The Veiled Prophet REQUIRED LEVEL: 115 DIFFICULTY: MODERATE LOCKDOWN: 30 seconds Location Cathedral of Vanity (Library of Fate) Lore According to religious myth, the mortal plane Sanctuary was created by the fallen angel Inarius and the demon Lilith to serve as a refuge from the Eternal War. The two created a race of servants from the earth which were to worship them for all eternity. However, humanity broke free from its shackles when a small group of farmers rediscovered their birthright and ancient powers inherited from their supernatural parents.
As the edyrem army grew, Inarius descended into megalomanic madness and was eventually destroyed along with his golden cathedral of vanity. It is whispered that the ghosts of Inarius and his closest worshippers still roam the cathedral. Strategy The Crystal Ball is the last of the cathedral’s magical defences. The tower exudes a holy invulnerability shield to protect nearby revelers and casts searing beams of angelic lightning that destroys anything it touches. Destroy the Crystal Ball to dispel the immortality from the other enemies. Reward Defeat Inarius on Hell difficulty to get the Idol of Vanity. Heart of Sin REQUIRED LEVEL: 115 DIFFICULTY: MODERATE Location Realm of Sin (Act 4: Chaos Sanctuary) Kill Ghom to obtain a Key of Sin, right click it to open a portal to the Realm of Sin.
Lore The Lord of Sin walks the earth. In his weakened state, he hides in the catacombs of Kurast, where his mere presence turned the surrounding area into a hellish landscape, feasting on the dark rituals of Mephisto's chosen. Destroy him before he becomes a threat. Strategy Azmodan is accompanied by a legion of Balrogs that cast Fire Fountain and Ravening Beasts which unleash molten boulders. High maximum fire resistance will help against these threats, but not as much as against Azmodan himself.
Though he uses Flamestrike, it is very strong even against high fire resistance. And as for an attack that's not fire damage based, he will cast Fortress which can subdue his ranged attackers. Movement here is key. Reward Defeat Azmodan on Hell difficulty to get Azmodan's Heart. Twin Seas REQUIRED LEVEL: 120 DIFFICULTY: HARD Location Island of Skartara (Tran Athulua) Kill Kethryes in the Halls of the Dead to open a portal to Tran Athulua and navigate to the Island. Once at the island, use an Askari Scroll dropped by one of the Priestesses in Tran Athulua to summon her in the center of the island.
Lore Athulua is the prime deity of the Amazon people. With her consort, Kethryes, she rules over the seasons and the weather.
The Amazon capital, Tran Athulua, is named so in her honour. Athulua is responsible for some of the most mysterious powers in an Amazon's arsenal. When a warrior has proven her devotion to Athulua through her brave deeds and exceptional skill in battle, the Goddess shows her favour by granting a spiritual emissary to aid the Amazon. These emissaries of Athulua are called Valkyrie, and they are the spirits of the greatest heroes from the Amazon people. The power to summon a Valkyrie is the greatest honour that an Amazon warrior can receive. It is believed this gift is a sign that your place beside the Goddess is assured when you pass from this world-perhaps even as a Valkyrie. Strategy You can find the Amazon Goddess at the heart of the ruins.
Her bow attacks deal heavy physical damage - make sure to avoid her Tantrum ability up close and her stunning Guided Arrows or you will become trapped in her kill zone. She will summon killable rat minions, which chase you down and cast Tremor on death.
Kill them from a distance so as to not get hit by this spell, which reduces your life significantly. Her other attack is Sky Siege.
This teleports her to your location creating a large dust cloud, which deals heavy physical damage over time. Be sure to leave its area of effect as soon as you can. Reward Defeat Athulua, the Amazonian Godess on Hell difficulty to get the Weather Control. Additionally, Athulua has a 20% chance to spawn Deity's Bow. Weather Control Required Level: 120 Keep in Inventory to Gain Bonus Jitan's Gate Cooldown reduced by 1 second Adds (6 to 10)-(11 to 15) Fire Damage Adds (6 to 10)-(11 to 15) Lightning Damage Adds (6 to 10)-(11 to 15) Cold Damage +10 to all Attributes Valkyrie's Prime The use of the Deity's Bow is to possibly assemble it into a mighty bow - Valkyrie's Prime. This process is very difficult because of all the rare emblems required to craft the bow.
You will need all 6 of them, which can drop from regular monsters. Valkyrie's Prime Sacred Bow Two-Hand Damage: 181 to 346 Required Dexterity: 666 Required Strength: 666 Required Level: 120 Adds Strength Damage Bonus: (102/256 per Strength)% Adds Dexterity Damage Bonus: (102/256 per Dexterity)% 100% Chance to Cast level 1 Athulua's Wrath when you Die 15% Chance to cast level 15 Time Wave when you Kill an Enemy +2 to All Skills +150% Enhanced Damage Adds 100-250 Damage Adds 50-200 Magic Damage Adds 50-200 Fire Damage Adds 50-200 Lightning Damage Adds 50-200 Cold Damage +10 to Sky Siege. Eve of Destruction REQUIRED LEVEL: 120 DIFFICULTY: HARD Location Act 5: The Worldstone Chamber Lore Much is known about Tor'Baalos, more commonly referred to as Baal, the Lord of Destruction: his battles during the Great Conflict, his bloodlust during the Sin Wars and his incinerating lust for revenge following the Dark Exile. Now all of the strife, devastation and horror he had wrought through the ages has been channeled into the Shard of Destruction. He seeks to fuse it with the Worldstone and reveal Sanctuary to the full onslaught of Hell once and for all. You must stop him before it is too late. Strategy The Lord of Destruction prefers fighting in close quarters where his spells will be harder to dodge.
Heroes which attempt to flee or hide behind walls will be punished for their cowardice. 'Defile', his most dangerous ability, marks an area on the ground in pulsating darkness which explodes after a few seconds dealing heavy magic damage. Also Baal will often incinerate all mana from your hero with his 'Inferno'; so having a way to recover it quickly is recommended.
The Lord of Destruction may call on his minions to aid him in battle, which buff their master and so must be killed quickly. He may also rarely haunt your hero with 'Visions of Evil' which inhibit your Nephalem powers and thus render him untouchable; free yourself of these evils as fast as you can, lest you be overwhelmed into madness. Your best chance of defeating Baal lies in staying on your feet; but beware, the larger your party the more horrors will rise up to defend their master. Quov Tsin REQUIRED LEVEL: 120 DIFFICULTY: HARD Location Vizjerei Temple (Caldeum) Lore Hungry for power and misled by Diablo, the irritable Vizjerei mage Quov Tsin set out to find Ureh, the fabled ancient city that had supposedly ascended up to the Heavens.
Aided by Kentril Dumon and his mercenary company, which included Gorst the infamous barbarian, they succeeded in their task. However what they discovered within the deepest ruins of the grand city was no portal to Heaven, but a twisted nightmare of horrors - the Kingdom of Shadow. They were never seen again.
It is rumoured that their spirits still clings to reality in a place they once called home, and that the ancient Vizjerei lies in waiting for a suitable mortal vessel that will allow him to rise once more. Strategy As a former Vizjerei in life, Quov Tsin wields the elements.
His most devastating attack is a streaming blast of fire, cold and lightning bolts powerful enough to annihilate any hero in a moment. He may cast the curse, Mythal, to reduce your resistances.
He also uses a bone nova at a distance. Prepare for this battle by equipping resistance items, and try to find some absorb items to further cut the damage. His contingency spells protect him by teleporting him to safety when struck by any attack. Stay near cover in case he appears too close for comfort. Reward Defeat Quov Tsin on Hell difficulty to get the Silver Seal of Ureh. Judgement Day REQUIRED LEVEL: 120 DIFFICULTY: HARD LOCKDOWN: 30 seconds Locations Crystal Arch (Act 4: Silver Spire Level 2) Halls of Valor (Imperius) Pools of Wisdom (Malthael) Kill Izual to open a Portal to the Diamond Gates and find your way to the Silver City.
Therein lies the entrance to the first level of the Silver Spire. Lore When Uldyssian sacrificed his life at the Cathedral of Vanity in the battle between angels and demons, his soul was thought to be blown to the far reaches of the universe. But a malicious spirit in the High Heavens, watching over the battle from afar, snatched Uldyssian and his edyrem on their way to oblivion. Imperius, archangel and high warlord of the Crystal Arch, had his own opinions about Sanctuary and the human vermin inhabiting it. This taint on creation had to be eradicated.
But his side of the argument, despite the support of Malthael, lost out in the Angiris Council due to the intervention of Tyrael, and the ensuing blood pact with Mephisto prevented him from intervening on the mortal plane at all. A puppet had to be found, and Uldyssian was just what he sought. After a thorough brainwashing, Imperius sent his harbinger Dark Uldyssian to Sanctuary with the mission to exact divine justice and destroy the world. Strategy Once in the Crystal Arch, both locations to find Imperius and Malthael are created. Both Avatars can throw alchemical holy hand grenades packing the power of creation itself, summon homing magical bolts and summon more Fallen Edyrem at a rapid rate. Reward Defeat Imperius or Malthael on Hell difficulty to get the Crystalline Flame Medallion. Banisher of Light REQUIRED LEVEL: 120 DIFFICULTY: HARD Location The Path to Enlightenment (Bramwell - Church of Dien-Ap-Sten) Kill Buyard Cholik and open a portal to the Path to Enlightenment.
Lore The Thief of Hope and the Banisher of Light is a demon lord summoned long ago by a very powerful Vizjerei magi. He used his intelligence and power to form his cult and rule the lands. People followed his philosophy; 'walked' the Black Road he created, and soon his power grew so much that even the Prime Evils feared him. Thus they imprisoned him within the portal he came from, between the Sanctuary and the Burning Hells.
It is whispered, among his remaining followers, that there is a way to release him from his centuries-long prison. Strategy The Pillar of Skulls seals Kabraxis. Once you kill it, Kabraxis will be released. He will pounce on you with various attacks, summon his skeleton army of followers and cast broadside or teleport when hit.
Your best hope is to keep running and killing the skeletons as fast as you can, and not stand close to Kabraxis all the time. Reward Defeat Kabraxis, Thief of Hope on Hell difficulty to get the Soul of Kabraxis. Soul of Kabraxis Keep in Inventory to Gain Bonus Required Level: 125 +1 to All Skills +(1 to 3)% to Maximum Fire Resist +(1 to 3)% to Maximum Cold Resist +(1 to 3)% to Maximum Lightning Resist +(1 to 3)% to Maximum Poison Resist 2% chance to drop a trophy on Hell difficulty. Cube the trophy with the charm for a small bonus. Bonus quest If you're feeling like releasing more powerful beings, there are also 5 orb seals which used to seal Kabraxis once. Each seal is for one element: Fire, Cold, Lightning, Magic and Physical.
When one is destroyed, it will unseal an Ultra Elemental, along with some normal elementals. The Ultra Elemental spawns new elementals, fires a powerful spell and takes damage only from it's own element - so be prepared to have a source of damage for every one of the elements. Once defeated, each Ultra Elemental will drop a Great Gem.
Transmute all 5 Gems with The Black Road obtained from Buyard Cholik to get additional bonuses. Kingdom of Shadow REQUIRED LEVEL: 120 DIFFICULTY: HARD LOCKDOWN: 90 seconds Location Ruins of Ureh (Vizjerei Temple - Caldeum) Lore The mythical city of Ureh, where Diablo took the form of an angel and deceived the city wizards, tricking them into casting a spell that doomed the city. Ureh and everyone within are now trapped between the mortal plane and the Burning Hells, appearing in this world only once every two thousand years, when the shadow of Mount Nymyr falls upon the ruins. Enemies The ghostly citizens are impossible to kill, but they are more than capable of killing you.
Keep moving at all costs to avoid the undead hordes. Bosses The plazas of Ureh are huge, the lighting is very dim and the mad King Juris Khan is located at the end of a precarious bridge to oblivion. Please run around like a damsel in a zombie film until you find the narrow ledge leading to the king. Juris Khan brings more minions from beyond the grave, finish him quickly. Reward Defeat Juris Khan on Hell difficulty to get the Eternal Bone Pile. Lord of Lies REQUIRED LEVEL: 125 DIFFICULTY: VERY HARD LOCKDOWN: 60 seconds Location Realm of Lies (Act 4: Chaos Sanctuary) Kill Maghda to obtain a Key of Lies, right click it to open a portal to the Realm of Lies. Lore After his defeat in the civil war in Hell, the Lord of Lies and infernal King of Rats was banished to Sanctuary where he plots his return.
The icy caves under Harrogath offered him both proximity to the powerful Worldstone and a dark moist breeding ground for his rodent servants. Strategy As the Lord of Lies, Belial prefers to cheat in battle. His main offence consists of his clones which will keep him safe as he cowardly hides. Belial will use a powerful Comet spell, and continue to confuse you by summoning new copies.
You will need fast killing speed or you will be overwhelmed by his minions. Reward Defeat Belial on Hell difficulty to get the Book of Lies. Ghosts of Old Bremmtown REQUIRED LEVEL: 125 DIFFICULTY: VERY HARD Location Act 5 Lore You ended the demon invasion of Fauztinville. Fast forward another few hundred years. Following a global demon apocalypse, the city is in ruins.
Lilith, once banished to the Plane of the Dead, broke free and corrupted the sons of the cosmic dragon Trag’Oul. Weakened by his battle against the angelic and demonic legions at the end of time in the far future, the draconic death god was unable to stop Lilith from capturing and possessing his young. There is no hope for humanity's resistance forces unless these creatures are eliminated. The old time machine was put into action once again.
Will you help out Fauztinville a second time? Enemies The Howling Spirits materialise directly on top of you when you approach their hiding spots.
You have no choice but to take some hits unless you have inhuman reflexes. Defence is very important. Bosses The shadowy Dark Star Dragon is one of Trag’Oul's young, twisted and bent to evil. It summons additional Howling Spirits and has a death beam that will make short work of you unless you seek cover as the beams pass. Reward Defeat the Dark Star Dragon on Hell difficulty to get the Dragon Claw.

Yshari Sanctum REQUIRED LEVEL: 125 DIFFICULTY: VERY HARD LOCKDOWN: 15 minutes Locations Specter of Hatred (Caldeum) Dream of Anguish Phantasm of Terror Figment of Pain Snare of Destruction Yshari Sanctum (Caldeum) Lore The Sanctum was created at the behest of the Trade Consortium of Caldeum. Seeking to make Kehjistan's new capital a beacon of learning, the mercantile rulers worked to unite the Mage Clans and build the Sanctum. The academy came to be filled with treasure troves of arcana, becoming a place of learning and growth for the various clans lead by the famous Archmage Valthek. In recent times dissent has taken over the academy. Numerous students have left or been expelled from the Sanctum due to dissent with the teaching methods and forbidden magics that are said to be the specialty of Valthek. Now the Trade Consortium have suspect that the old Archmage has gone rogue and seeks to empower what remains of his followers with demonic magic.
You must put a stop to this before the whole of Kaldeum is overrun with evil. Enemies There are numerous powerful monsters throughout the maze that will test your battle prowess and running speed to the limit. You must be well versed in the various deadly arts and damage types to even think of venturing far into the maze. Each stage will have a special boss, protected by several smaller bosses that also appear on the specific stage. You have to find them, they are located in special 'boss areas' hidden in the maze.
Bosses Each boss will drop 2 set pieces: One of the Brotherhood of the Vizjerei and one of the Horadrim set. You need these sets in order to be able to fight the last boss, Valthek. They are guaranteed to drop these set pieces. While wearing the two sets simultaneously, you will be granted with new very powerful skills which are required to defeat Valthek, the Vizjerei Sorcerer. After you assembled both sets in the maze, head to the Yshari Sanctum to fight Valthek himself, using the new acquired abilities. Reward Defeat Valthek, the Vizjerei Sorcerer on Hell difficulty to get The Ancient Repositories. Xazax REQUIRED LEVEL: 125 DIFFICULTY: VERY HARD LOCKDOWN: 5 minutes Location Wretched Sands (Island of Skartara) Lore Loyal only to Belial, the Lord of Lies, Xazax hides quietly in the shadows.
He was cursed by Kara Nightshadow, inducing him to see illusions of angels and demons, which caused him to run in terror into the depths of the Aranoch deserts. Paranoid with fear he has chanelled all his remaining power into calling upon his demonic legions for protection. Find Xazax and put an end to this dark summoning lest in his madness he turns his demonic army against Lut Gholein. Strategy Xazax is attempting to open a portal to Hell and invade Sanctuary with his minions, so the faster you can bring him down the better as you will have to deal with less of his hellish hordes which are invulnerable to mortals. This will not be easy however for you will be bombarded by Hellfire and choked in corrosive venom if you do not react quickly. Beware his Glacial Nova attack which can slow you down and make you more vulnerable to his Pentients.
Reward Defeat Xazax on Hell difficulty to get Xazax's Illusion charm and an Ancient Book. Astrogha REQUIRED LEVEL: 125 DIFFICULTY: VERY HARD Location Web of Deceit (Torajan Jungles) Lore One of Hell's greatest, the scheming spider demon Astrogha has surfaced after the fall of Andariel to continue his reign of terror. He is not the most powerful demon in close combat, but the spider king is never alone. Strategy Astrogha does not usually fight his foes directly, but he does not need to.
His summoned Spider Statues serve as gateways for his personal swarm, belching waves of crawling Darklings from the depths of the void. Deal with them quickly, but do not touch the statues! They are protected by one of Astrogha's devious tricks: when destroyed, they will both rejuvenate Astrogha and unleash a curse that cripples the assailant causing a swift death. If left alone, they will eventually collapse on their own.
Astrogha also possesses a very powerful but close ranged Frozen Orb attack and has warding spells that teleport him away when damaged, courtesy of Quov Tsin's mages. Reward Defeat Astrogha on Hell difficulty to get Astrogha's Venom Stinger.
Spirit World REQUIRED LEVEL: 125 DIFFICULTY: VERY HARD Location Mbwiru Eikura (Act 3: Teganze) Lore Mbwiru Eikura, also know as the Spirit World, is the central tenet of the Umbaru's belief system. They believe that the mortal realm is simply an illusion which covers the true reality that is the Spirit World. It is from here that the Umbaru draw their dark powers.
Trapped in this reality one might find Zorun Tzin, a powerful mage from Khejan, who was sent to discover more about the Edyrem and their powers. He grew envious of them for having these immense powers from birth, as opposed to him having to study a lifetime to acquire them. He wanted to get hold of Uldyssian, the Edyrem leader, so he ambushed a caravan Uldyssian traveled with, capturing him. Before he could thoroughly interrogate him, his servant the giant Terul, possessed by Malic, tried to control Uldyissian.
Ultimately Uldyssian defeated Terul, and the now hostless spirit of Malic, facing obliteration, possessed Zorun Tzin trapping him in the Spirit World. Strategy He will pounce on you as soon as he sees you. This triggers off a devastating six-directional projectile spell which is countered by staying in his melee range. However this will not be so easy, because of Zorun's Spine attack. It deals no damage by itself but it summons untargetable, high physical damage dealing zombies whose job is to get you on the run, hence making you susceptible to the above spell.
He may also invoke a devastating fiery explosion which has a slow charge up time, be sure to move out of the blast centre. His last ability is to spawn statues which are invulnerable to all and must be purified. These grant him a large radius invulnerability aura. Reward Defeat Zorun Tzin on Hell difficulty to get a Mystic Shard. Cube it with your Umbaru Treasure for an added bonus. Nymyr's Light REQUIRED LEVEL: 125 DIFFICULTY: VERY HARD LOCKDOWN: 60 seconds Location World Nexus (Ruins of Ureh) Lore The World Nexus, the dimension between heaven and hell which no one knows how to reach. Here the formerly beautiful daughter of Juris Khan, Atanna, awaits your arrival.
While she was able to resist Diablo’s influence longer than most, in the end she succumbed and now she is an undead demon at his disposal looking to take her anger out on anyone who stumbles into the world between worlds. Strategy Atanna Khan's resting place is guarded by two upper levels, which are themselves black labyrinths haunted by lesser witches. The matron's handmaidens summon up dread fire from the void - gloaming flames that track your movements and grasp at your very soul. Do not let these fires touch you, lest you be lost to the maze.
If you can manage to navigate your way to the depths of the Nexus and traverse its bridges carefully, you will find yourself in the World Nexus, where the dimensional planes themselves are born. It is said that the souls of those who sought forbidden knowledge are entangled in its black mire, doomed to travel the dark endlessly. Maybe if you gave them aid.
If you can find the Witch's final resting place, rouse her from her millennial sleep and witness the paragon of wrath. She is shielded by dark magic, too old and arcane to penetrate. Purify her soul, and give her the eternal sleep she so violently desires. Beware her high magic damage ranged projectile spell and her forcefields, which knock you back into the welcoming embrace of her sisters. If you stray too far away she may pounce on you unleashing a devastating multihitting nova, which must be avoided at all costs.
Reward Defeat Atanna Khan on Hell difficulty to get the The Sleep. This empty charm allows you to add a powerful enchantment to it by transmuting it with any one of the 17 existing trophies. Each trophy adds an unique bonus, but only one trophy can be applied, only once, so choose carefully. Nephalem's Sacrifice REQUIRED LEVEL: 130 DIFFICULTY: EXTREME Location after the Edyrem's Path (Crystal Arch) Find the portal within the Crystal Arch in the High Heavens to start the Edyrem's Path. Lore Uldyssian ul-Diomed. Once only a simple farmer, but the spiteful vicissitudes of Sanctuary were not satisfied.
The ghosts of Seram grew restless, and Lilith, Queen of the Succubi, began to torment those of the old bloodlines. Marked by fate, Uldyssian rose to become a boy-king, rallying others like him to defend Seram and to defend all of Sanctuary. They would become his warriors of light: the Edyrem. The blood of the Nephalem was ubiquitous, but Uldyssian gathered them all.
The blood of the Nephalem was mighty, and they burned a path through all who would fight for Hatred, eventually defeating Hatred's Daughter herself. But victory was only passing. Lilith, undying, lived on through the very powers she had been defeated with. Now ruled by their Dark Edyrem King, the tortured, reality-warping visions of the warriors of light are sealed beneath Aranoch, waiting for one to release them from their eternal curse.
Strategy The cursed descendants of the Nephalem manifest their torment in memories of battles won and lost. Some of their forms may be familiar, others eldritch and baffling. If you can defeat all of them, you will find the Dark King himself. Atop his throne, within his prison. Free him, and let the Edyrem rest at last.
Reward Defeat Uldyssian on Hell difficulty to get Uldyssian's Sword. Archbishop Lazarus REQUIRED LEVEL: 130 DIFFICULTY: EXTREME LOCKDOWN: 15 seconds Location Genesis (Viz-jun) Town Portals are disabled Lore There are many religions in Sanctuary. Although they all tell very different stories, loremasters agree that since most of them seem to be effective and enable their faithful to work miracles, there has to be a common truth between them. One particular element found in most religions is the creation of the world by a God or other deity, whether it be Anu, the Earthfather and Skymother or even Tiarna Dulra. Some even believe that the world as we know it was shaped by an individual human on another plane, one 'Archbishop Lazarus' with a calculation engine powered by lightning. According to this cult, when humanity complains too much about the difficult living conditions in Sanctuary and the scarcity of divine weaponry, he may send his avatar to the mortal plane to deal with those who annoy him in person.
Strategy The Groupies are just your average frenzied fanbois with throwing knives and should not be too hard to dispatch despite their tri-elemental attack. The boss, Archbishop Lazarus, is at a whole different level. Do not stand still in his crosshairs or he will cast either Deathstrike or Singularity on you and annihilate you. If you keep moving, he will attempt an offensive teleport, summon more minions and may cast totems that kill you if you go near them. Do not destroy the totems: they will unleash wild magic that renders you brittle as glass and heals Archbishop Lazarus and his Groupies.
Using his powers, Archbishop Lazarus is invulnerable to any damage and this time there is no loophole or weakness. Use the Purify skill you acquired in Duncraig and keep hitting the power tripping modmaker with it until he dies. Reward Defeat Archbishop Lazarus on Hell difficulty to get the Glorious Book of Median. The Void REQUIRED LEVEL: 130 DIFFICULTY: EXTREME LOCKDOWN: 25 minutes Locations Black Abyss Plane of Sloth Plane of Gluttony Plane of Greed Plane of Lust Plane of Wrath Plane of Envy Plane of Pride The Void Kill Inarius to open a Portal to the Black Abyss. Lore With the creation of the Sanctuary by the angel Inarius and demoness Lilith, the demons and angels who wanted to avoid the Great Conflict between the High Heavens and Pits of the Burning Hells came with them and settled it. The first humans were created as their offspring by mixing the demonic and angelic – the Nephalem.
At first they seemed to be nothing like their parent, but quickly it became evident that they wield latent magical powers possibly even greater than their ancestors. Finding this out, Inarius decided to kill them all, but Lilith wanted to make an army to fight the Heaven and Hell. They began fighting, and Lilith, defeated, was banished into the Void – an utterly empty and black space, a prison for various beings – to be eternally trapped there. Rathma, their son, had avoided the slaughter that followed, and became the servant and student of a mystical dragon-guardian of the Sanctuary – Trag'Oul. After a thousand years, Lilith escaped the Void in the middle of the Sin War events, faming Uldyssian and making him fight the Triune and various related demons with his companions - one of them being Mendeln, his brother.
Rathma took in Mendeln, and trained him as his apprentice – the two of them being the first Necromancers, following the teachings of Trag'Oul. Eventually, Rathma was found and sent to the Void by Inarius, but Trag'Oul sent Mendeln to retrieve Rathma at a great risk. Strategy In this deep nothingness, look within and explore your very existence until you come to your soul. Being so bare out here, take a voyage in your mind and fight your 7 deadly sins in unfamiliar locations, each conjured anew every time you visit them with your though. Once you have beaten them all, cube their remnants to get the Sigil of the 7 Deadly Sins.
Then use your Mage Rage in the Void to release your inner rage and clear yourself from sins, expunging them to nothingness. With enough power, it is possible to, in this way, temporarily create small figmets of reality or summon a similar powerful moment – now long gone. Bosses Doing so, you might come upon Rathma, disciple of Trag'Oul and Mendeln, Apprentice of Rathma – the first necromancer. They fight each-other with powerful spells, but attack you if you interfere with the dispute. Reward Defeat Rathma, Apprentice of Trag'Oul on Hell difficulty to get Rathma's Supremacy.
Herald of the End REQUIRED LEVEL: 135 DIFFICULTY: IMPOSSIBLE LOCKDOWN: 20 minutes Location Edge of Nothingness Defeat Baal on the Hell difficulty to chance upon a mystery item. Solve its riddle, and gain access to the Edge of Nothingness.
Lore The Eternal Conflict between the High Heavens and the Burning Hells has been raging from times immemorial. Angel fighting demon. Demon fighting angel. On, and on, and on. With no end in sight.
The demon Lilith captured an angel, Inarius, and to her surprise, she discovered that they both grew tired of the Eternal Conflict. They decided to use the powers of the Worldstone to create Sanctuary, a world apart from the struggles of the everlasting war. They used the Worldstone to hide it from both sides of the conflict, but both sides soon discovered it, and tried to use it to their gain.
The Burning Hells invaded Sanctuary, headed by the three Prime Evils, but were faced by a group of heroes, defending their home realm. The prime evils were defeated by mere mortals, but not before Baal could corrupt the Worldstone, trying to bind Sanctuary to the Burning Hells. The archangel Tyrael destroyed the Worldstone to prevent that, but in doing so, he also destroyed what was hiding the Sanctuary from the Heavens, Hell.and the worlds beyond the bounds of the known. Then, a foolish hero, in search of glory, to defeat evil, played with the unknown forces of the shards of the destroyed Worldstone, and through the gates of oblivion, from the Edge of Nothingness, stepped in a Herald of the End.
Strategy Samael, Herald of the End, has powers beyond this realm. As an elder being, he has powerful direct attacks and latent powers. He casts a pentagram that renders everything asunder, except at its very center, and a dark energy orb which bombards the area with bone spears. If you survive, he will teleport to you causing a delayed flaming nova. Of course, he also has a powerful aura that reduces the powers of puny mortals in his presence, deals damage, and makes energy fields randomly appear and detonate after a short time. As if these horrors were not enough, he also summons forth allies from the beyond, which are ethereal and cannot be harmed, shooting bolts at you.
Good luck, mortal, may you die a painful death for bringing the end upon us all! Reward If the stars of the all known realms align, and you defeat Samael on Hell difficulty, you will find that his blood holds immense powers. It would be wise to gather it in a Vial of Elder Blood.
You will also gain one of a few elder items he brought with him.
